The new Universal Round Loop Tip Top is the first tip-top for fly rods with a truly round loop. Thanks to its innovative design, the wall thickness could be reduced from 0.010” to 0.008” – and thus significantly reduce the weight.

The new Universal Tip Top was consistently designed for maximum performance. At its core is a simple realization: how fly line, leader, and connections pass through the tip-top directly influences the performance of the rod.

Conventional tear-drop shaped tip-tops can snag or pinch connections and create a larger contact surface – precisely at the crucial point where the line leaves the rod. This additional resistance reduces line speed, impairs casting distance and accuracy, and can increase wear on the fly line in the long term.

The heart of the Universal Tip Top is its true round ring geometry, designed for particularly clean and smooth transitions. Leader knots and loop-to-loop connections can slide through the tip-top more easily, instead of getting caught. By minimizing typical snagging and contact points of conventional tear-drop shapes, the entire system remains freer in motion – for more consistent casts and better line control.

The weight at the rod tip also plays a greater role than one might initially assume. The Universal Tip Top was therefore consistently designed to be lightweight. This allows the blank to stabilize faster after the cast, track cleaner, and transmit more feedback to the angler.
