Soulmate Chameleon II ESN Nymphing Rod Building Kit
Build your own uncompromising Euro Nymphing rod
Maximum sensitivity, direct bait control, and the special satisfaction of having built a fly rod with your own hands: The Soulmate Chameleon ESN II Nymphing Rod Building Kit contains everything you need for your individual Euro Nymphing rod.
We have selected and prepared high-quality rod building components so that they perfectly match technically and aesthetically. You simply choose the desired rod length, line class, and grip variation – we have already put together the rest for you.
The best available fly rod components – carefully curated to fit seamlessly together.
Designed for modern Euro Nymphing
The heart of the kit is the lightweight and sensitive Soulmate Chameleon ESN Blank. It is made from Japanese Toray carbon with medium modulation and combines fast feedback with a harmonious, semi-parabolic power delivery.
The sensitive tip immediately transmits the finest bottom contacts and cautious bites to your hand. At the same time, the blank works progressively deep into the handle during the fight. This protects thin leaders and safely cushions the runs of larger fish.
The low intrinsic weight and balanced action enable fatigue-free fishing, precise nymph guidance, and consistently direct contact with the bait.
Choose the rod that suits your water
The Soulmate Chameleon ESN Rod Building Kit is available in different lengths and line classes. This allows you to specifically tailor your rod to your preferred waters and fishing methods.
A shorter version is recommended for small, narrow, or heavily overgrown streams. It can be controlled even under overhanging branches and still offers enough backbone to safely guide larger trout.
The longer models offer additional reach, more effective line management, and greater control over drift and leader. They show their strengths particularly on medium to larger rivers and when fishing at a distance.
Light line classes stand for maximum sensitivity and particularly delicate presentation. Stronger variants offer additional reserves for heavier nymphs, larger waters, and powerful fish.
Additionally, you can choose between different grip variations in cork or carbon, thereby ergonomically and aesthetically adapting the kit to your personal preferences.
No reaming, no drilling, no sanding
It hardly gets any easier.
Our Soulmate rod building kit makes assembly easy for you, as we have already done much of the intricate preliminary work.
The grip is precisely prepared and matched to the reel seat and the respective blank. The components do not have to be laboriously searched for or adapted to each other. Instead, you can focus on what rod building is really about: the clean assembly of your very own fly rod.
All work steps are explained clearly and step-by-step. This makes the kit suitable for ambitious beginners as well as experienced rod builders looking for a high-quality and fully coordinated base.

Components that really fit together
Each component has been selected to match the respective blank. The grip, reel seat, fighting butt, guide set, and adhesive system form a functional unit.
The prepared cork grip precisely accommodates the reel seat. The lightweight guides support the blank's sensitive characteristics and reduce unnecessary weight in the tip area. The reel seat and grip construction ensure a balanced feel – particularly important for long Euro Nymphing rods that are actively held for many hours.
The result is a lightweight, sensitive, and harmoniously working nymphing rod that doesn't feel like a collection of individual components, but rather a well-thought-out overall system.
Your rod. Your build. Your unique piece.
With the Soulmate Chameleon ESN Rod Building Kit, you're not building an off-the-shelf fly rod.
You decide on the length, line class, grip variation, winding color, and personal details. This creates an individual custom rod that precisely matches your water, your fishing style, and your preferences.
And every time the tip bends under the first fish, you'll know: I built this rod myself.

Should you later need a spare part for your Soulmate rod building kit, you don't have to send in the entire rod.

What else do I need?
What else do I need?
The kits contain all essential components and consumables for building your Soulmate fly rod. However, some additional tools and aids will make your work easier and ensure a particularly clean result.
Helpful Tools and Materials
- Good work light: Very important so that wraps, transitions, and any adhesive residue remain clearly visible.
- Stable workspace: Ideally, the assembly area can remain set up for the entire construction period.
- Sharp knife or scalpel: For precisely cutting thread ends.
- Lint-free cloths: For cleaning components and removing adhesive residue.
- Denatured alcohol: For degreasing and cleaning the blank, grip, and adhesive surfaces. Acetone should be used very carefully.
- Small scissors: Helpful for winding, positioning, and shortening the wrapping thread.
- Fly-tying bobbin: Recommended if you are working with the included rod stands.
- Fine sandpaper or steel wool: For carefully roughing up adhesive surfaces.
- Tape measure, pencil or China marker and masking tape: For guide spacing, markings, and protective lines.
Optional Extras
A rod dryer or slow-rotating motor is particularly helpful to ensure the epoxy finish remains evenly distributed during curing. Without continuous rotation, the finish can run or form drips.
The included wrapping thread can be used directly. Of course, you can also choose your own colors and customize your rod. Silk thread can appear transparent to translucent with proper processing, while nylon generally creates a stronger and more opaque color effect.
Difficulty, setup time, and service?
Difficulty, setup time, and service?
Difficulty
The Soulmate Fly Rod Building Kit is suitable for ambitious beginners as well as experienced rod builders. All essential components are coordinated, and the individual steps are clearly explained in the instructions. However, some manual skill, patience, and careful work are still important, especially when aligning the guides, wrapping the thread, and applying the finish.
Assembly Time
Depending on your experience, working method, and model, you should allow about two to three evenings for complete assembly. This does not include the respective drying and curing times for glue and rod finish. A calm assembly without time pressure ensures the cleanest result.
My Service Promise
Even after your purchase, I won't leave you alone with your project. If you have questions about individual steps, components, guide positions, or the application of glue and finish, you will receive personal support. My goal is for you to be able to build your Soulmate fly rod safely, cleanly, and with joy – from the first step to the finished rod.
